Diane Keaton on Style

People recently featured a great mini-interview with Diane Keaton.

I've always appreciated Diane's style point of view -- she seems practical, irreverent, and unabashedly herself.  Amidst a 1970s sea of bold-print polyester, Diane chose muted menswear.

In her People interview, Diane articulated her preference to wear color in brief shots:

"Colors as accessories punch more.  If it's the whole show, count me out.  I don't want to be in that show.  I mean, do you?"

Diane's stance on color speaks to my own affinity for neutrals.  This topic probably deserves a post of its own, but, to give you an idea, an overwhelming proportion of my closet consists of neutrals.  I, too, prefer wearing color in concentrated doses.

Do you have style "rules"?  Do any of them fly in the face of trend or convention?

Design Inspiration: A Refurbished Lebanese Home

Pinterest is a veritable treasure trove of interior design ideas, and all sorts of ideas, really. For example, I find the deep, moody blue and purple hues in this living room enchanting.

But, after scanning tons of interiors, some gorgeous, some totally over-done, and most at least a little on the busy side for my taste, I yearn for something simpler and more sincere. This refurbished Lebanese home in Batroun, documented by the New York Times in 2010, gets it just right. Fresh, bright, and a bit styled, yet welcoming and livable, don't you think?

How have you decorated your home? Does form or function reign, or do you strike a balance between the two? And where do you find design influences?

Hello! Welcome!

I'm dipping my big toe into the blog pool and hope you enjoy taking a refreshing swim with me. Though my jewelry collection, Amoura Design, is my main creative outlet, I thought it would be fun to share the inspiration behind the design with you. Enjoying food, fashion, travel, and my city, Washington, D.C., brings me such joy. I hope that these snippets of life and inspiration bring joy to you, too.

In addition to the blog, you can follow me on Twitter and Pinterest.
